I hear you all ask...yes every single one of you that avidly read my music blog :)
So i guess I owe you all some fun music seeing as it took me this long to write again. Fair 'nuff too. Let's get into it shall we?

First up I have a song that not only excites me due to the fact it's just good, but also because it heralds the arrival of a new album from a great group. It's the new single from Zoot Woman! For those of you not aware of this British electronic pop group, then let your education begin here. This will be their third album and it will be released in a couple of months I think. Their first effort, Living In Magazines, was a groovy disc that mixed 80s disco with electronic pop. It included the great single It's Automatic which had MOS chillout compilers, and remixers alike, very excited.
The second album was self-titled and more ambient than it's predecessor. A little heavier on the electronic side, this album seemed to have greater longevity...for me at least. They released a moody single called Grey Day. Check it below and enjoy the new tune!

What else is going on? Well in rock stuff, Louis XIV are a UK band that are now about to release their second offering. I recall quite liking a single off their last album, but I never sought it out. So here's a taste of their new stuff. I like it mainly because the video clip is all the characters from The Dark Crystal singing along to their words. Still, it's a fun, fast song and there may be more fun on further listening of their new album.

In other music news, I need a new MP3 player...but am still not wanting to buy an iPod. I do need something with quite a bit of gig though because I'm used to having 40 now and I fill that up. Any suggestions? I would like maybe Creative of iRiver, but these are all very expensive. I have seen 80gig iPods for less that 400 though, so I may have to conform! Not that I even have that to spend yet, but my brick of an iRiver is slowly fading away on the inside I feel. It's had a good run though.

It's Wednesday, what a good day for a remix eh! I have to delve into my collection for the next couple of posts because my internet has been particularly slow recently. But this is ok, I still have some relatively recent acquisitions that will no doubt delight you guys.
Oh by the way, if you guys remember the Okyo track i put up a few days ago, well I have been in contact with Markus from the group back and forth for a couple of days. He seems like a nice guy, living in NZ with his wife. They want to visit Melbourne so I promised a tour which he said he would love, so, my friends, you may be able to meet him. Fun huh!
Anyway, back to remixes.
Now, I do need to mention a lovely little Perth band called The Dirty Secrets. I have introduced a couple of my friends to their single from a while back called 5 Feet of Snow, and when we saw them live at Ding Dong we were all very impressed. After chatting to them after the gig we decided they were also very friendly chaps. Now it seems that they have been working with some cool people to record their album, one Nick Terry has helped with mixing. This guy has worked with The Klaxons, The Libertines and Simian Mobile Disco to name a few. That's great for these Perth boys and it also means some great remixes are around for them already...and it can only get better!
So first up is the Miami Horror remix of 5 Feet of Snow. It's fun because it just adds some electro to the rock fun of the original, instead of making it completely unrecognisable. Have a listen.

I guess I need to stick another remix up for it to really be a Remix Wednesday. So let's see. Oh yes, how about a Justice remix, they're always a bit of fun. And who better to remix than the mighty Klaxons. This remix of As Above, So Below is tinged with 80s electronica and Justice's trademark punchy interludes. It's good for the environment. Ok I really need to go so can't say much about this group, but Yuksek and the Invaders have done a great remix of Klanguage's track All This Time. Total dancefloor mayhem. Definitely one to smash glasses to ;)

So let's get straight into it shall we?
First I'd like to discuss a certain duo named Okyo. They're lovely people who spend their time between both New Zealand and Germany, ah the life!
I discovered them only recently while watching an IDN (design magazine) DVD that contained the video for their single Monster. Apart from being a visual feast, with constantly changing face designs (kind of like Bjork's Hunter, but on speed), it's also a great song. Listening to some of their other stuff on myspace, I'm getting super excited about hearing more from these guys.

Next up, there's a lovely little group, actually another duo, called The Dø. Thing is, most searches chuck a fit when you try and type in that lovely little 'ø' so you can
also have a look for The Do...but be warned, there are a lot of things that can be tacked onto the end of that!
Anyway, they're from Finland and their music is melodic and lovely, someone else said that they sound like a funkier Cardigans...and after listening to the album I can see where that comes from. But they have a couple of quirkier songs on the album (A Mouthful) which make me love them even more.
